About Forge IOP
Intensive outpatient programming (IOP) is a level of behavioral health care designed for teens who require more support than traditional outpatient services offer, but less than residential or inpatient treatment. At Forge, it consists of 9+ hours of care per week for 8 weeks.
Those hours include group sessions for adolescents and parenting skills groups for caregivers. The goal is to help adolescents manage their mental health needs and build lasting stability, without disrupting their schedules.

Our Approach
Our program is rooted in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) which is an evidence-based approach that empowers teens to build essential coping skills, process life challenges, and begin meaningful healing. Skills building is focused in four main areas:
Mindfulness
Distress Tolerance
Emotion Regulation
Interpersonal Effectiveness
Our Space
Our inviting space is part of what sets Forge IOP apart from other similar programs. It is intentionally designed to be welcoming and warm. We believe that cultivating a supportive and friendly space allows teens to feel comfortable and confident as they heal and grow.
Teens can expect to enjoy cozy seating, warm beverages and snacks every session.
Forge IOP Team
Our team believes teens heal best in spaces where they feel safe, supported, and understood. Our team is intentional about creating an environment that is welcoming, collaborative, and free from stigma. We meet teens where they are and walk alongside them as they build resilience, skills, and confidence.

Insurance
We currently accept Colorado Medicaid for IOP, and are working hard to be able to accept private insurance for IOP soon!
Our team is here to help you understand how IOP specifically works with your insurance. We'll answer your questions about coverage, costs, and payment options. We also offer private pay options as well.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
IOP may be right for your teen if they:
Are not improving with weekly therapy alone
Have increasing anxiety, depression, or emotional outbursts
Are missing school, withdrawing socially, or avoiding responsibilities
Have experienced a recent crisis, trauma, or hospitalization
Are struggling to cope in everyday life, even with support
Feel overwhelmed or stuck despite current treatment
You’re not in crisis, but you're worried things are heading that direction.
-
Your intake clinician can help make a detailed treatment recommendation, based on a thorough intake with your teen and family members, and with awareness of your unique situation and capacity. If you are already in treatment somewhere else, we will collaborate with your other providers to ensure that your care is consistent all the way around.
-
The majority of IOP is for your teen with other teens, alongside 1-2 trained facilitators. Research shows that change occurs most rapidly when family members are able to work on their part, so we offer a weekly parent drop in group, family therapy, and parent sessions to meet you where you are. Weekly emails are sent out reviewing the weeks’ content and going over new skills, so you can practice them at home with your teen. We recommend that you engage to the level that is right for you, and matches your capacity as a family, right now.
-
Typically, we are able to enroll teens in IOP in the week following parent outreach. If it’s better for your family to wait a week or two, we can work with your timeline. Reach out now.
-
Please reach out and let us know your situation. We can arrange payment plans, discuss what elements of the program can be covered by your insurance, and figure out exactly what the out of pocket cost will be.
-
That’s very normal—therapy is not always comfortable, and many teens who need an IOP level of care have been in therapy that wasn’t the right fit for them. Once you decide this is the right fit for your child and get them in our doors, our trained facilitators will be ready to help.
Your teen will be assigned a Navigator who is alongside them for the journey, answering questions and assuaging fears. Our rolling cohort model also helps, as more experienced group members love to support newbies and help them feel accepted and encouraged to share. Before you know it, your teen will be the one feeling at ease, and supporting the other group members. Most clients report not wanting to leave IOP when they get to graduation!
-
We require 24 completed sessions to “graduate” from IOP. If your child misses a session, they just make it up at the end of their scheduled 8 weeks.
